Graduate Unemployment

New Labour’s obsessive drive to put 50% of young people in our wasteland of “pretendy” universities was always going to end in tears.

It led to a boom in unchallenging courses and “Mickey Mouse” degrees such in celebrity journalism, drama with waste management, and equine studies with dance.

As with so much else, the true agenda was to mask the realities of British life while Gordon Brown waited impatiently to inherit Downing Street from Tony Blair.

In the last year or so the deafening sound of vast armies of chickens coming home to roost has been heard throughout the land.

Youngsters were fooled into believing that student loans were a smart investment and are now unemployable graduates with useless qualifications and heavy debts.
