A Cold Green Future

Six months ago Eigg was awarded a prize for its triple wind-solar-hydro generating system claimed to produce 95% of the island’s energy from renewable sources.

Today their complex eco-energy system is lying idle, their dirty old diesel dynamos are taking the strain, and the folly of relying solely on the forces of nature is obvious.

The ‘world’s greenest island’ is giving us a glimpse of our future on the mainland if our political class continues with its ‘global warming’ delusion and nuclear phobia.

Of course the green fanatics would be happy if we went back to pre-industrial levels of energy use, but this will result in privation and hypothermia for all but the elite.

The Royal Academy of Engineering’s recent energy report presents a frightening picture of the likely results for ordinary Scots of past government inertia and folly.
