A Window of Opportunity

The public now accepts that New Labour spent too much, borrowed too much, wasted too much, and used money it did not have in the needless creation of pretendy jobs.

The Budget will be the Government’s only opportunity to bring in stark measures and to blame them fairly and squarely on its incompetent and dishonest predecessor.

The NHS, education and the police should all take their share of cuts because all were used by Gordon Brown to build his client state of bureaucratic jobsworths.

We need extensive taxation reform, an immediate rise in the retirement age, tougher welfare-to-work policies, and a massive reduction in the size of the public sector.

As a nation we need to recognise the difference between the core obligations of the state in every area, especially health, and its present fripperies.
