Living in interesting times

This election has shown a divided Britain with the Celtic fringes and the industrial graveyards of Northern England increasingly parasitic on the southern taxpayer.

Violent street riots will greet any attempt to stifle the flow of largess so the coalition, with another election looming, will not dare to act too brutally.

But the good news is that we have got rid of Gordon Brown and his loathsome minders Mandelson and Campbell, two of the most duplicitous men in public life.

And the days of confusion after the election have shown the British people more convincingly than any television debate what a disaster PR would be.

Beyond the debt mountain we need to build new nuclear power stations before the Britains lights go out and the Lib Dems are implacably antinuclear
