Gordon Brown’s lamentable administration was the most venal, spendthrift, and corrupt government of my lifetime. It is beyond parody to hear him now claim that his party is the nation’s ‘Good Samaritan which will not pass by on the other side’. He rightly faced an immediate backlash from church leaders who said New Labour had in fact undermined Christian beliefs on marriage, conscience and worship. Catholic convert, Ann Widdecombe, said: “If he is the Good Samaritan, he should explain why he robbed the pension funds and left so many people by the wayside.” As usual, this “son of the manse” is communicating his bogus assertions, vapid slogans, and affirmations of his own brilliance without a trace of embarrassment.
