Pyrrhic Victory

The bitter battle over Obama’s healthcare bill has polarized the American people and the jubilant President and his Democratic Party nurse many self-inflicted wounds. His brutal, strong-armed, tactics generated grass-roots opposition and sparked angry town hall meetings across the country. However, instead of trying to unite the nation, Obama crowed and preened in this hour of what is surely at best a Pyrrhic victory. It was not until the eleventh hour that the Democrat enforcers finally nailed down the votes they needed to drive the bill through a hopelessly divided Congress. With all attempts at bipartisanship out of the window, the bill amounts to a government takeover of healthcare that will clearly lead to higher deficits and taxes.
