Speed Bumps

The disadvantages with speed bumps include the slow response time of emergency vehicles; diversion of traffic to parallel residential streets; increased noise and pollution for residents living nearby; damage to some vehicles; increased traffic noise, especially by lorries; signs, street lighting and white lines are all required and are visually intrusive; drivers are distracted by the bumps, therefore ignoring other hazards such as children; increased pollution as traffic travels in a lower gear using significantly more fuel per mile.
