Royal Society supports GM Crops

This Royal Society study shows that engineered crops could provide new sources of healthy food for the future and stave off food shortages. GM cops offer significant benefits, including the creation of crops that are resistant to drought or a harsh soil. Scientists are close to producing ‘everlasting’ wheat that can be harvested every few months – currently crops have to be ploughed and resown after each harvest. Fruit and vegetables have been developed with high levels of cancer protecting compounds, such as flavonoids in tomatoes. The Government has at last realized the need to allay public fears generated by hysteria from the Green Lobby. It reminds one of the negative reaction of Warmists to nuclear power which would appear to the unbiased observer to be the obvious solution – if CO2 is really the danger they claim.
