All the lovely boys

The one thing that can be said about New Labour and the Islamofascists is that they deserve each. Surely no-one is surprised by the news that our government colluded in the torture of terror suspects overseas. Despite the best efforts of Foreign Secretary David Miliband to bully our judiciary he has been forced to publish the damning evidence of our complicity in torture. The UK’s three most senior judges ruled that Parliament had been deliberately misled and that there existed a culture of suppression in this administration. Miliband has always insisted he did not condone the torture but it is clear he is still trying to perpetrate a cover-up. The Appeal judges said the case raised issues of fundamental importance, of democratic accountability, and ultimately the rule of law itself. This is only the tip of the iceberg of New Labour’s attempts to hide its shameful secrets behind a screen of “national security”.
