Big Push

While Brown and Obama dither over whether to send more troops, it is seldom mentioned that Afghans are against further deployment. The Taliban are not only winning in the field, they are also winning the propaganda war. Increasing numbers of Western experts agree with Matthew Hoh, the senior American diplomat who recently resigned, saying, “The Pashtun insurgency is fed by what is perceived by the Pashtun people as a continued and sustained assault, going back centuries, on their land, culture, traditions and religion by internal and external enemies.” The increasingly delusional Gordon Brown believes we are in Afghanistan to protect our streets from al-Qa’eda. The problem with this argument is that al-Qa’eda is based in Pakistan not Afghanistan. In reality, the presence of the large UK military force is making Britain a more dangerous not safer place to live in.
